Mike MacMillan
During the course of his 24-year career, MacMillan
has provided counsel to many of the country’s leading
financial services and law firms, as well as leading
financial technology innovators. In 1996, he directed
the media relations campaign for Dow Jones/The Wall
Street Journal in celebrating the 100th anniversary
of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, an event which
generated worldwide press coverage.
Prior to founding MacMillan Communications, MacMillan
was a managing director at a mid sized New York based
public relations firm, where he headed the financial
services group. He began his career at Makovsky & Company
where in 1986 he led the firm’s team in publicizing
the New York City Marathon’s first-ever use of computer-generated
postcards to distribute race results to more than 20,000
marathoners. MacMillan later moved on to the corporate
team at Manning, Selvage & Lee, one of the top five
public relations agencies in the world.
In addition to his client work, MacMillan's articles
and opinion pieces on communications topics have appeared
in a number of publications including The New York
Times, Mutual Fund Market News and the Raleigh
News and Observer.
MacMillan is a 1979 graduate of the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Karen Seaman
Karen
Seaman has substantial experience providing public relations
counsel to a range of financial, technology and legal
industry clients.
Seaman has garnered media coverage for various technology
start-ups as well as several well known financial technology
providers, international banks and industry advisors.
She focuses on program management and media relations
and has placed clients in publications such as Financial
Times, BusinessWeek, The Wall Street Journal and
The New York Times.
Prior to joining MacMillan Communications, Seaman served
as an account executive for financial technology and
banking clients at Intermarket Communications, a boutique public relations firm in New York. She was responsible for
media and analyst relations, event planning, writing
bylined articles and overall strategy and support. Seaman
has also has broad experience with firms involved in
Internet B-to-B marketing, business process outsourcing
and customer resource management.
Seaman received a B.A. in Communication from State University
of New York at Geneseo.
Andrew Schiff
Andrew
Schiff specializes in media strategy, counseling and
intensive analysis of the news environment to create
highly specialized communications campaigns.
Throughout his ten years in the industry, Schiff has
worked with many bulge bracket asset management firms
and investment banks, as well as more specialized professional
and financial service providers.
Prior to joining MacMillan, Schiff served as vice president
of media relations at Towers Group in New York, providing
primary media representation for all lead portfolio
strategists at Lehman Brothers. He also created and
distributed regular economic and financial commentary
for leading global asset managers such as Baring Asset
Management and Henderson Global Investors.
Earlier in his career, Schiff served as an account supervisor
for Golin/Harris where he managed accounts for a number
of high-profile financial firms including Bessemer Trust,
a private wealth management company with more than $35
billion in assets, Archstone Properties, one of the
nation’s largest apartment real estate investment trusts
(REITs), Generation Partners, an innovative private
equity firm and KPMG Consulting, the leading global
technology consultant. For these clients, he was responsible
creating media strategy, securing high-profile media
placements, writing and placing by-lined articles, liaising
with industry analysts and securing speaking opportunities
for client executives.
Schiff graduated from the University of California at
Santa Barbara with a B.A. in English in 1988.
Chris Sullivan
Chris Sullivan specializes in developing and executing
targeted media campaigns designed to build brand awareness
and promote key issues.
Since first entering public relations in 1998, Sullivan
has provided counsel and managed media relations campaigns
for a diverse array of clients including Wal-Mart
and the four major North American sports leagues. For
three years Sullivan worked in-house at First Investors
Corporation, a $5 billion mutual fund company and life
insurance provider.
Prior to joining MacMillan, Sullivan was the communications
manager for the New York Regional Association of Grantmakers
(NYRAG), a membership organization representing the
largest concentration of philanthropic capital in the
world. He was responsible for handling NYRAG’s public,
media and government relations projects, writing and
editing policy alerts, newsletters and bylined articles.
At MacMillan, Sullivan works closely with the firm’s
clients to monitor industry coverage and trends, and
has developed relationships with key reporters at top-tier
and vertical outlets resulting in placements in
The Wall Street Journal, American Lawyer, Barron’s,
and CNN.
Sullivan graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with
a B.A. in English. He earned a Master’s degree in liberal
studies from The New School.
